Proposed Coastal Recreation Area for the Eastern Texas Coastal Region

I’ve been seeing a number of articles about the proposed Coastal Recreation Region centered on the Galveston area. The purpose of the region is to diminish future hurricane damage. When hurricane Ike came through, the areas with still existing coastal wetlands suffered less damage than the areas where the wetlands no longer exist. This proposal is also projected to bring in more tourists to the area. This seems to be a viable and well thought out proposal. In my humble opinion, this idea beats the heck out of the proposed dike that some want to build along the entire area.  The dike would cost billions of dollars and take years to complete, not to mention the  huge environmental impact the project would cause.
